Here is the update and caution. The county board said that it is illegal for any farmer in Washington County to sell meat from their farm. Yes, this includes that it is illegal for you to come to the farm to pick up your orders or to purchase meat from us when you are out at the farm for classes...

With absolutely every depth of hell this year, I was never alone.  I knew it in those lonely, horrible, tear filled times as much as I know it now as I look back and pause in reflection.  

Curing meat has been a tradition since 3000 BC and started in Mesopotamia.  Even back then families knew the importance of preserving their meat and vegetables. Most often salt and herbs were used in the process.  

A friend recently shared tears because they are moving again and her oldest, about the same age as my second, is really struggling. My heart was breaking for her and her kiddos and I began to wonder, no more like worry, how all our family changes are affecting each of my children.

This has definitely been a tumultuous year for small businesses. I took some time to reflect this Thanksgiving on all the things our business is thankful for. It was so much easier to be Thankful for the many amazing blessings in our personal life with kids, Army, home, friends, etc. but…I had to purposefully not give thought to the mounting...

Anthony and I met in Alaska and with his fast approaching retirement we both felt it was fitting to give into our longing to return to the state that holds our hearts. This trip was both for pleasure and for business. We enjoyed our old stomping grounds, spent hours reconnecting with friends, and enjoyed many new beautiful trails and attractions.

The highlight of this particular invitation was getting to learn from leaders in the agriculture industry. The amount of technology, innovative thought, processes, strategy, and planning that goes into growing food for our country is by far one of the most amazing enterprises we have had the pleasure to work in. 

With the delay in the fall harvest and the delays in getting our buildings up, we have lost a number of animals. It’s not just the farming financial loss but the loss of each life, no matter how big or small, that weighs on our hearts. The older boys feel it too.
