Why our farm honors military spouses

Adam & Justin2It is easy to recognize what an honorable job military personnel do on a daily basis. We are moved by stories of sacrifice and struggle to comprehend the courage these individuals possess.

However, it seems that we often forget about the glue that holds the soldiers together — their spouses. It is these spouses who are forced to find a way to often raise children on their own, away from family.  It is these spouses who hold their heads high, and keep quiet on their worries and fears, so that their children have a “normal” life.  It is these spouses who pack again and again, moving their careers and their families while trying to be the rock that everyone can lean on. These spouses are the ones who struggle with change, when their loved one comes home, changed from the turmoil they saw.  Military spouses are heroes.

The History of Military Spouse Appreciation Dayx

President Ronald Reagan, 1984, wanted to raise awareness about how much spousal commitment helps military personnel get through the worst of times, as well as celebrate the immense love these husbands and wives have for each other, making their commitment to protect the freedoms of the United States, possible. The holiday takes place the Friday preceding Mother’s Day.
