After only a few short days we accepted an offer on our home and will officially be moving!!! (DON’T worry, only moving up the road a few short miles to Blair, NE). 🙂
The new family moving into our current house has twin boys and sound simply amazing. Thank you Amanda Sway at Berkshire Hathaway (The Briley Team) for again helping us navigate an amazing sale/purchase.
Now the real work begins. We start moving critters on Aug 24th and have to be completely set up and moved in only seven days!! Planning temporary buildings, packing the house and putting it in storage to help get a step ahead of the process will fill our month of July (on top of all the camps, classes, and birthday parties we have planned here at the farm!!)
Miss Hattie turned 7 and had her friends and family out to the farm to celebrate in June.
We just walked the new property again today and I was so awestruck at the amount of space that I again forgot to take pictures. God is SO amazing! For now you are going to have to settle for what I can grab from the sales listing.
Our FAVORITE aspect of the property is the large pond! We have already started reaching out to organizations who can help give us advise on how to make upgrades to this area but also enhance the conservation aspect of this wonderful element. We have much to learn. Thank goodness we are still young, LOL.
The boys are most excited for the large trees and the first time in their whole lives to be able to build a tree house. Time line to start the tree house is set for late October!!
To help give you an idea of what we have planned so far…and to keep you updated as we grow our plan, here is a picture of the property layout. The “blacked out” area is not ours, everything else is! The “checkered” area is the wooded and pasture area and the slices on the right and left of the blacked out area are current crop fields. One of the most exciting components of the property is the extra large pond. It will definitely need some TLC and we are excited to work with the Center for Rural Affairs and other agencies to get some advise on conservation measures. The “red” area is our future home site. No timeline right now on building the home, our priority is getting the animals set before winter. The “yellow” area is the future home of our large equipment shed, barn office, and processing area for eggs and produce.
Thank you everyone for sharing in our excitement! We love having such a large farm family and that we can truly share this adventure with each of you.
Love & Blessings,
The Barreras Family
